Program Overview
There has been great progress in treatment, but for most blood cancers, there is no cure and better therapies are needed. In this activity, new and evolving treatment strategies will be discussed, including how the heterogeneous nature of blood cancers dictates treatment and prognosis, the role of clinical trials, and the evolving role of CAR T-cell therapy. Case studies will focus on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and on diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Treatment and side-effect management and communication with patients about clinical trials will be highlighted. Interactive discussions will be incorporated throughout this activity.

Education Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Explain how the heterogeneous nature of blood cancers dictates treatment and prognosis
  • Describe the evolving role of CAR-T cell therapy in treating blood cancers
  • Educate patients about participation in a clinical trial
