Hope for the Future: Research into Treatments for AML
Dr. Frederick Appelbaum, Senior Vice President and Director of the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, says that leukemia research over the past decade has set the stage for the many exciting therapies on the horizon for AML and other leukemias. He reviews several treatments being studied and optimized at his institution, including therapies that target the WT1 antigen and agents like Mylotarg that target the CD33 antigen.
