The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship have partnered to develop a dynamic educational program intended for all cancer patients, family members, caregivers and health care professionals. Cancer: Keys to Survivorship provides the information and skills necessary for cancer survivors to advocate for themselves. The program consists of four modules, of which one is presented in this Webcast. It is called Working It Out: Your Employment Rights as a Cancer Survivor. Cancer: Keys to Survivorship is made possible by an unrestricted educational grant from Ortho Biotech Inc.

We asked onsite participants how their behavior would have changed at the time of diagnosis or during treatment with this newly found information. Some of the comments we received included:

  • [I] Would not have carried a fear about losing my job and not getting coverage from another job.
  • I would know what my employment options are.
  • [I] Would have dealt with employer differently.
  • [I] Would not have been so stressed about losing my job.
  • It would have helped me better understand my rights.
