Privacy Policy
cancereducation's Member Privacy Statement

Privacy and safety are our utmost concern at cancereducation.com, Inc. ("cancereducation"). We respect and protect the privacy of all users to our website.

a. General.
cancereducation collects information from Members during the registration process, and may collect additional information from time to time. In addition, for each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes only the visitor's IP address.
  • Non-Account Activity. Users can access content on cancereducation without having a User Account. You can also contact us about specific content without having an account.
  • Account-Related Activity. Certain other activities on cancereducation, including but now limited to posting User Submissions or accessing restricted content, require that you have a User Account. We ask for some personal information when you create an account, including your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access.
  • Usage Information. We may record information about your usage, such as when you access cancereducation, its content, favorite areas of the Site, and the frequency and size of data transfers, as well as information you display or click on. If you are logged in, we may associate that information with your account. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. b. Use of Registration Information.
cancereducation will not provide or release names or e-mail addresses of Members to any third party without the Member's prior consent. However, registration information and other voluntarily submitted information may be used by cancereducation in the following ways:
  • To operate, maintain, and provide to you the general and personalized features and functionality of the Site, and to process any flagging activity or correspondence you send to us.
  • To provide our editors with information that is useful in developing new features and services;
  • To direct editorial content, such as newsletters, news articles, and other such customized e-mail to Members most likely to be interested in information about specific subject matters.
  • To provide advertisers and sponsors with aggregate information about our Membership base and usage patterns; and
  • To allow us to potentially vary advertising based on Member preference.
  • To allow us to notify you of major changes to the Site or for customer service purposes.
  • To improve the quality and design of the Site and to create new features, promotions, functionality, and services by storing, tracking, analyzing, and processing user preferences and trends, as well as user activity and communications.
  • We use cookies, clear gifs, and log file information to: (a) store information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Site; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information; (c) monitor the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns; (d) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc.; and (e) track your User Submissions.


cancereducation reserves the right to perform statistical analyses of Member behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the site and to inform advertisers and sponsors of such information. cancereducation will provide only aggregate data from these analyses to third parties; no personally identifiable information will be disclosed unless consented to by the Member. cancereducation may sometimes permit third parties to offer subscription and/or registration-based services through cancereducation. In this event, cancereducation is not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties and Members should check the applicable privacy policy of such party before providing personally identifiable information.

c. Voluntary Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information.
When you create an account on the Site, you should be aware that:
  • Some information about your account and your account activity will be provided to other Users of the Site. This may include the date you opened your account, the date you last logged into your account, your age (if you choose to make it public), and your country of origin.
  • Your account name (not your email address) is displayed to other Users when you engage in certain activity on the site, such as you uploading User Submissions to the Site.
  • You may also choose to add personal information that will visible to other Users on various pages, including but not limited to the channels and groups pages featured on the Site. This may include a profile picture, name, gender, or other details.
  • If you choose to add certain features to any of the various interactive pages of the Site, then these features and your activity associated with these features will be displayed to other Users and may be aggregated and shared with your confirmed friends or other Users.
    At any time after the creation of your account, you may choose to:
  • Decline to submit personally identifiable information through the Site, in which case you can still view content and explore the Site, however in doing so, please be aware that cancereducation may not be able to provide certain services to you.
  • Update or correct your personal profile information and email preferences at any time by visiting your account profile page.
  • Control the information that is available to other Users and your confirmed friends at any time by editing your account and the features that are included on the Site.

d. Cookie Technology.
cancereducation may employ cookie technology to allow Members to move more quickly through our site. Cookie technology also helps cancereducation determine which features and services are important to which audiences so that we may know where to invest our ongoing development and creative efforts. Cookies are small text files a website can use to recognize repeat uses and facilitate a Member's ongoing access to and preferences of the site. They do not pose a threat to a Member's files. It is also important to know that the cookies themselves do not actually contain any personal information. cancereducation does not and will not use cookies or any other technology to track or report on Member activity when they are not on cancereducation, nor will cancereducation pass Member data to other websites. Members should be aware that cancereducation cannot control the use of cookies by advertisers or third parties hosting data for cancereducation. However, if a Member does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the user to deny or accept the cookie feature. Please note that cookies may be necessary to provide the Member with certain features (for example, customized delivery of information) available on cancereducation.

e. Ad Servers.
To try and bring you offers that are of interest to you, we have relationships with other companies that we allow to place ads on our Web pages. As a result of your visit to our site, ad server companies may collect information such as your domain type, your IP address and clickstream information. Submission of the Membership Form represents your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions, which shall govern your use of cancereducation. cancereducation reserves the right to contact any Member at any time regarding membership-related matters, or changes to the Terms and Conditions governing use of cancereducation.

From time to time, we may use member information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt-out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically.
